Now maybe I can get back to blogging!

You might be asking why I haven't posted anything for many months?

Well as you know I have been in school and working full time and that has pretty much absorbed my whole life for a few years now.

But guess what?  I am now an official college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Forensic Accounting.  Yee haw!!!  So happy to have accomplished this, which I never thought I would.

So now I have created a task list of all the projects that need to get worked on, one of those is catching up my blog.  I have so much to tell you about!

I hope I haven't lost all my blog followers?   Hang on... I will be back soon with some updates on this past year.  Thanks for all of you who have hung with me.

Has it really been that long?

Holy Wow!  I just looked at the date of my last post and cannot believe it has been that long.  I have officially been a blog slacker.  No reason in particular except that I haven't been able to come up with anything exciting to write about.  I haven't been on any adventures in months.  I guess you could say other things have gotten in the way of life.

We got moved into the house about 3 weeks ago.  Work is good... I LOVE my job!  School is keeping me really busy.  I was very happy about my first semester grades and being included on the deans list.  This semester, however, is a different story.  Intermediate Accounting II has become my nemesis.  The school is trying out a new program for the assignments and quizzes and there are still a few quirks that are making it really hard to get a decent score, meaning my grade right now is not an A like I would like.  I am working hard and hoping I can improve that before the end of the semester, which leaves me about 3 more weeks.  My other class is a sociology type class where we are discussing America in the 1960's.  That class is going great and my grade is where I want it to be.  Wish me luck in my accounting class!

I enjoy living in my new small hometown, and like that my drive to work is now 20 minutes instead of an hour.  However, I miss my sister and her family.   I am just glad that I didn't move so far away that it would be hard to see them on a regular basis. They are only 30 miles away.  And, they are coming over for dinner on Sunday.  Yeah!

Since my last post, my kids are back in school.  Shellise is attending Southern Utah University and Jessie is in  his Junior year of High School.  Crazy!  I get to see them in a week-and-a-half for a day or two, and can't wait!  I am so proud of both of my kids.  Jessie because he is making some really great choices right now and turning his life around.  Shellise because she is working so hard in school and is doing great, and because she is also making some better choices that is improving our relationship.  They have both been trying to get jobs, but the market in that town is not good.  They really need jobs though, so if any of you in Cedar City know of any place hiring, let me know.

I need to get back to my studies now, but promise I will be back a lot sooner.  I am leaving you with a few photos.

I hope you will still check back once in a while, even though I am such a slacker these days!

Worries...

What do I have to worry about?

Today its these four things....

Dad
Son
School
House

My Dad - My dad is in failing health.  He hasn't been well for some time.  However, he was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday.  He has been in renal (kidney) failure for a few months but on Tuesday they were barely functioning.  He was retaining tons of fluid and was basically drowning on the inside.  He couldn't breathe.  His heart was having to work so hard that he suffered a series of heart attacks over a 4 day period. They are starting dialysis.  Once they get the fluid out of his body they can then begin to look at his heart to see what is going on.  Me and my sister are heading to Utah to be with him and our family.  Prayers are appreciated!

My Son - Lets just say he is a troubled teenager in need of prayers too!  That's all I can say about this on here.  Just need lots of prayers for my beautiful baby (almost 16 yr old) boy.

School - I was contacted by my college a few days ago to tell me that the bachelor program I was due to start in April will no longer be a degree program offered at that school.  This means that I need to choose a different degree program or find another school that offers the program that I want and hope they will accept all my credits.  I was REALLY very excited about starting that program (Financial Forensics) and I do not want to go in any other direction.  I am really upset by this!  So I have been searching out schools who offer the program and sending them my transcripts to help me decide on what to do.  I love the school I go to and I don't want to change... but I suppose I may have to.  Just not happy about that!  I just hope my credits will transfer so I can stay with the decree program I have wanted to be in.

On a side note... I will graduate with highest honors with an associates of science in accounting degree on April 14th.  I am SO EXCITED!  I am now finishing up my last two classes.

House - We had to fire the builders we had been working with to build our home. I hated having to do this because I really liked them personally. However, after 3 months they finally gave us the bid price to build it.  It ended up being WAY OVERPRICED.  After looking at other homes and other builders we realized we were going to get the shaft if we continued working them.  So we have chosen to go a different route with another builder.  We have a new builder, a new set of plans, and a more affordable price.  This makes me happy but it has been stressful and VERY worrisome!

Well I guess that just about covers it!  I sure hope I can move past the worry stage and into a much smoother, worry free life!  Is that even possible?

Announcing the Winner and my New Blog Name...

Well it is that time.  We finally arrived in our new state and are settling in nicely.  DH made it through the first week of his job and it is going very well.  I began a new session of classes and that is going well also.  I have only 5 more classes after this session until I graduate with my associates degree and begin the bachelor's program.  Getting excited about that.

But that is not what you are really wanting to know now is it?  You are here because you are curious about my new blog name and to find out who won the blog name giveaway.

I hope you like it!  I did!  I think it is a very "catchy" name.  Thank you to Lara over at Overstuffed, who sent in this idea for the name of my blog.  I received several ideas that I really liked as well, which made it difficult to choose.  I want to thank all of you who gave me such awesome suggestions.  And I want to thank my sister for helping me decide which one to use.  Lara, please contact me with your address so I can forward you your prizes.

Right now we are in the beginning stages of getting a new home built.  We have chosen a style and floor plan and have met with the builders.  Now we are getting things ready to clear the land and then survey and excavate it.  I am getting excited!

I am also really enjoying the time I get to spend with my sister Valerie .  We just got tickets for the Twilight marathon at a local theater on November 14th.  I am so happy that I have someone to do fun things like that with now.

I guess that wraps things up for now.   I am crazy busy with school but in my spare time I will be creating  a new design for my blog and hopefully be able to update more often and catch up with you as well.

Life is Good!

 See you soon!

Being in Limbo Sucks!!

I thought I better post something just in case you all begin to think I am dead or something.  I am in fact alive, yeah me!

I have just been super busy finishing up my last session of classes and starting another one.  Also, we have been very busy packing the house.  I can say we are officially 75% packed.  Then lets not forget that work thing which takes up a good portion of the day and a good portion of my life - ugh!

We still don't have an exact move date but it will be very soon.  If any of you follow me on Facebook, you will know that Dear Hubby's job is being eliminated here in Bozeman on September 12th.  We feel very blessed we had already made plans to move and realize that the decision to move to Texas was really meant to be.

Dear Hubby's place of employment has recently undergone a major reorganization and that is why it is taking so long for this job transfer to get processed.  The word is we should hear something sometime next week.  In the meantime we have been stuck in Limbo.  Being stuck in limbo really sucks and is something that I hate!  I have also been in limbo in other areas of my life (which is another story for another day) and it is getting really old.   I am trying to be patient though and feel I am doing a pretty good job of it.

I know it has been a while since I have contributed anything significant to my blog.  In what little spare time I have had I have been working on photo edits of our July adventures, and there were many.  I will post those soon (I hope).  I am so far behind!

We are trying to see and do as much as we can while we still live here.  Problem is we just don't have a lot of time.  We did make a list of priority places we want to visit before we move and little by little we are getting to those.  Tomorrow is one of those days where we are taking the whole day and going on a long road trip drive over the Beartooth Highway.  It has been something we have wanted to do since we moved here.  So I will make sure I take plenty of photos and will hopefully get to posting about that adventure very soon.

And just as soon as we get the word on a move date, I will let you all know too!  Until then, I hope you are all doing well.  I have missed having the time to read and comment on all of your blogs, but promise I will get to that very soon.   Life is just getting in the way at the moment!

Maybe... Just.... Maybe

I just completed my final papers for school and now I have a two week break. So maybe just maybe I will get some time to update this blog of mine.  I feel so behind!

I am looking forward to my two week break from school so I can actually clean and organize my house.  Outside of work and school there is no time left for much else.  So this break will be used as a nice catch up.

I am also very excited because I am taking a 4 day weekend at the first of April to drive to Cedar City, Utah so I can spend some time with my kids.  I can't wait!

Little by little and gradually day by day I am beginning to see signs of Spring so maybe just maybe Spring is around the corner?  I hope so!  However, the snow that we are expecting to get tonight and tomorrow may delay it a while longer.  I am so done with winter!

I'll be back shortly with a real blog post... stay tuned! I've missed you all!

The Good and the Bad!

The GOOD

  • I made it on the Dean's List for achieving a recurring high GPA.  This makes me very happy because I have worked very hard.  Next goal is to make it on the Chancellor's List.
  • I only have one class this session. Really glad about this after having two very difficult classes last session.  This class is Professional Communications and it sounds like it will be good and fun.
  • Work is good for the most part.  It's nice to be able to just drive around town delivering parts all day and not get stuck in an office.  It is the perfect job to have while I am attending school full time.  It's also nice that it's located about 3 miles from my home.
  • The Holiday's were nice, peaceful and quiet around here.  It always comes and goes way too fast for my liking.  We enjoyed spending quality time together and that is what made it so nice.
  • I discovered Skype!  And I love it!  I was able to Skype with both sides of the family over the Holiday's.  I was so happy to even get to see my Grandmother via Skype whom I haven't seen since I moved here over a year and half ago.  This made being separated from family a little easier.

The BAD

  • I didn't get to spend Christmas with my kids after all.  Big disappointment!  It is a long and unpleasant story that has to do with ex-husband fighting me on my visitation rights and teenage kids that are stinkers.  Enough said!
  • Kyle informed us a couple days ago that he is moving out of our home on the 8th and on to Minnesota where his previous girlfriend lives.  Another Big Disappointment! Another long and sensitive story that I won't share here.
  • We missed out on seeing our Utah family over the Holidays.  Since I didn't get to have my kids for Christmas there was no reason to make the trip to Utah to pick them up.
  • I was sick for over 3 weeks with a terrible cough and nasal congestion.  Thank goodness I am finally getting over it but now it has struck my DH.  Ugh!
I was hoping the New Year would bring less unpleasant life changing events and more peace and contentment.  However, since it's only the 4th and I already know about two major events that affects me personally leads me to believe that wish is just not going to happen.

With that said, all I can do is take the advice of Church Leaders and  find the good and happy in each day.  So that is my goal for this year.  I will live day to day and seek out the happiness and goodness in those days. And I will hope that tomorrow will be a better one.

I'm dreaming of .... a White Christmas.....I mean a break!

Oh my goodness its been a long while since I've posted anything.  I hate not having the time to blog.  But school is really killing me right now!  This session, I've had an algebra class and a principles of business class.  Algebra alone was killer but add to that all the required assignments (usually 2 each)  from both classes due each week, and working a full-time job on top of that and I feel like I am going to pull my hair out.

I had math finals due yesterday and I didn't realize it was due yesterday until Thursday so I literally spent every waking hour that I wasn't at work, studying and preparing for my exam all weekend.  I'm stressed and I'm feeling a little down because I haven't had anytime to enjoy the holidays like I want.  But why am I complaining?  I chose this path so I will just shut up now.

Any hoo....  I have a 2 more assignments for each class due this week and then I will be on break until after the new year.  Thank Goodness!

So now you know what I have been doing.  What I haven't been doing is baking and making candy or shopping.  I am hoping to get started on that very soon.

I'm excited though because DH and I are driving to Utah on Friday to pick up my kids and bring them back up here for Christmas.  I am really looking forward to seeing them.

I am very proud of Shellise.  She was in her school play "White Christmas" which held their production every day last week.  She has to be beat!   I sure wish I could have seen her in that play, it is my favorite holiday production.

Shellise also takes ballroom dance and will be performing next weekend and I will get to see that performance while I am there.  I can't wait!

I hope to be able to finish my Christmas shopping, do some baking and make candy, and catch up on some much needed projects sometime soon, or maybe I won't.  For right now I have to get my school assignments done so I can enjoy the holidays.  Looking ahead to some wonderful quality time with my kids.
And I am looking ahead to some quality posts by me in the near future... maybe?  I hope.  Miss you all!

Happy Holidays!

A Mosque at Ground Zero - An essay written by Sherrie Carpenter

I want to share with you my final essay I wrote for my English Composition class.  It's regarding a controversial topic that affects all of us American's and something that I feel very passionate about.

The propriety of building a Muslim Mosque at Ground Zero

On September 11, 2001 radical Muslim terrorists hijacked airplanes and flew them into the Twin Towers killing thousands of innocent people, destroying the buildings, shattering the ideals of the American people and forever changing our lives as we knew them. Fast forward nine years later to today and now Muslims (extreme radicals or not) are planning on building a Muslim Mosque very near the site that is called Ground Zero.

This has caused a huge debate within the United States, dividing the country, and bringing out strong feelings of anger towards one another. Kuhner writes, “The building of this mosque is a sacrilegious act - a deliberate slap in the face to the victims, their families and all Americans. The mosque will cast a giant, dark shadow over ground zero, serving as a testament to the Islamist conquest of America. Islamists are using our freedoms in an effort to destroy our freedoms” (Kuhner 2010, para.4). Even though the United States was built upon tolerance and religious freedom, I don't believe a mosque should be built near that site or at all because that ground is sacred, it will bring about continued hate, discontent and additional terrorism and most importantly because Muslims build mosques in places they have conquered.

To begin with, the backers of the mosque feel that because the “United States was built upon tolerance and religious freedom, a mosque at Ground Zero would represent American values.” They also suggest that “Muslims have the same right to build a house of worship in Lower Manhattan and to pray for the victims of 9/11 as any other group” (ProCon.org. 2010, October 28) .

I agree that America is recognized for its tolerance and that American’s have many freedoms other countries do not, including religious freedom. But does that mean we have to be naïve and allow others to use those freedoms against us? I think not! Being that it is America; Muslims are free to build mosques and to practice their religion however they see fit. In fact mosques are scattered all around the United States. However, that does not mean that they should build one on or near the area where so many lost their lives at the hands of Islamic terrorists. The majority of people in this country feel that Ground Zero is “our cemetery – our sacred place” (Bottum 2010), a place that should be memorialized. A New York construction worker who lost an uncle on 9/11 says about the plans to build a mosque, “It's like spitting in the face of all the people that died” (Investor’s Business Daily, 2010 August 23).

Additionally, Newt Gingrich tells us that “there are no churches or synagogues in all of Saudi Arabia. In fact no Christian or Jew can even enter Mecca.” He also goes on to say “there should be no mosque near Ground Zero in New York so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia. The time for double standards that allow Islamists to behave aggressively toward us while they demand our weakness and submission is over” (Gingrich 2010, para.1 and 4)

According to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, "All the proposed Muslim community center near Ground Zero will do is create more division, more anger, and more hatred" (ProCon.org, 2010). I believe the backers of the mosque are getting exactly what they want. They want to see the American people divided and full of hate towards one another, causing much discontent for all of us that have lived in a peaceful and free country for most of our lives. Many people ask why Muslims would think that it’s okay to build a mosque at Ground Zero. This is why folks! Because having so much hate, discontent and a country divided ultimately diminishes the freedoms we have and enjoy, and then the United States would emulate many of the Muslim controlled countries.

While doing my research for this paper I came across literally hundreds of articles and comments all around the world from many countries who are calling this a deliberate act of provocation. Personally, I was impressed with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s statement while addressing the controversy via twitter. She stated “Peace-seeking Muslims, please understand, the Ground Zero mosque is an unnecessary provocation; it stabs hearts. Please reject it in the interests of healing” (Pro.con.org, 2010 para.9).

Furthermore, it is has been proven that mosques have served as a “breeding ground for terrorism” (Scarborough 2010). We hear it all the time in the news where mosques have been used as meeting and training places for terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda. It was a mosque in Hamburg, Germany where the planners of the September 11th attack met and organized their plans.

Additionally, Scarborough includes in his article a quote by Steve Emerson who is the executive director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism for Human Events. Emerson says "Around the world, mosques have been disproportionately used as venues for terrorists to raise funds, plot operations, recruit new terrorists and radicalize young Muslims”, (Scarborough 2010). Do we really need another place where radical Islamic terrorists can meet, train, plan and carryout the next terroristic plot against the United States right on top of the hallowed ground of Ground Zero? I believe this would be a bad or dangerous idea. We would be allowing them to stick it to us again. And this is just what they want.

Of much more concern is the real underlying motive for building the mosque on Ground Zero. It is said that Muslims build mosques in places they have conquered to be a symbol of a triumphant victory. There is a very long history that gives proof that “thousands of mosques, from Spain to India, were built on sites of important religious or political conquests” (The American Critic, 2010 September 9). Many people including Muslims themselves can attest to this statement. For example, in a Washington Times article a Sudanese immigrant writes a piece about his experiences, stating “The building of mosques near sites of Islamic conquests or successful military actions later became common throughout much of the world, including Cordoba, Spain, for which the proposed Ground Zero Mosque project is named. They became unmistakable portraits of victory and of the domination and control exercised by the victors, who plundered cities and converted captives at the point of a sword. In 1683, the whole of Europe was threatened until the king of Poland came to its aid at Vienna's gates. That happened on Sept. 11, a date al-Qaeda chose in striking America nine years ago” (Levi, 2010 para.5).

One of the most sacred places of all time, in all of Christendom, is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem where Jesus was believed to be resurrected. Jerusalem was captured by Muslims in 638 and soon after, all the churches were “cleansed”. Following the “cleansing” the Muslim conquerors built a “spectacular edifice”, what is called the Dome of the Rock, right on top of that sacred place. This was their way of proclaiming “Islamic supremacy, to ensure that the followers of Islam would not be tempted by Christianity” (Gray, 1989-2009). This is just one of many examples throughout history. Even though some people think otherwise, the Islam religion does not tolerate anyone who opposes the teachings of Islam. The very meaning of the word Islam is “submission”. In fact, if a Muslim rejects or turns away from the teachings of Islam, the penalties are extremely severe, that may include being disinherited, jail, or even death. Historically, Islam is not a peaceful religion and I can feel and see it’s evilness in many ways. Islam creates violence. Its history of death and destruction speaks for itself.

Levi also reports, “Throughout much of the Muslim world, the sight of a brand-new mosque rising over the ruins of the Twin Towers will be a powerful and enduring image and symbol. It will be interpreted widely in a manner unfavorable to the United States. It will serve as a triumphal rallying cry for terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, which will seize upon the symbolism as a recruiting tool” (Levi, 2010 para.6).

The proponents of the mosque say that it will be an asset to the city of New York, a holy place, where Muslims can worship to denounce terrorism and promote peaceful relationships with Americans of other faiths. While that is a nice thought, I don’t believe that for a minute. There are just too many other instances where it has been proven otherwise.

In summary, while building a Muslim mosque at that location is not illegal or unconstitutional, is it appropriate to do so? If building a mosque on or near Ground Zero causes so much hate and discontent between Muslims and Americans of other faiths and feelings like we are getting slapped in the face, one must ask why? Why are the backers of this mosque so intent on building it there? The majority of the people in the United States believe that it is hallowed ground and a place that one should be able to go to remember those that lost their lives that September day. If the proponents of the mosque are being truthful and it is intended for a peaceful, holy place of worship, then they should understand that Ground Zero is not the place to build it. Islamists and proponents of the mosque that call for tolerance should really look at their “own practices” rather than criticizing America’s (Pro.con.org, 2010). There are over 100 mosques in the state of New York, not to mention the hundreds scattered all around the country. When a Christian church or synagogue is built in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Islam region, then we can talk about tolerance (Gingrich 2010). Rather than building a mosque, let’s build a memorial to commemorate the 2,966 lives that were lost. If you agree with me, then let your voices be heard! Let’s come together as a country and demand that a memorial be built there and boycott that mosque.

I am astounded and appalled at the number of our elected officials that are proponents of building this mosque. Namely, the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, and our dear President of the United States, Barrack Obama. I am horrified that the U. S. President would support such a thing to be built right where so many people lost their lives at the hands of Muslim terrorists. I am shocked that he would support a mosque over a memorial. But then again President Obama is a closet Muslim isn’t he? However, that will have to be a different topic for another paper on a future date. I just don’t understand that when given a plethora of facts and lessons of history, why anyone would agree that building a mosque in what should be a sacred commemorative place is a fine thing to do.
The solution is simple, and it should have been done years ago. Building a memorial is easy and what the majority of American’s want to see be done at that location. It’s just the right thing to do!

I would love to hear your feedback and your thoughts regarding this controversy!

What I wish for.... And.... What I get!

I know its been a while since I have posted anything of real significance, I wish I had something significant to say.  But alas, I think all my used up brain cells are being put into my English Composition II class.  I only have just this one class this session, but it is kicking my butt.  It takes up practically every non-working, non-sleeping hour of my days.  Learning how to write proper essays, in APA style citations, including all the research involved is just so time consuming.  Thank goodness I just have the one class!

Yes oh Yes, how I wish I could think of something really witty, clever and fun to write about. Unfortunately, I just can't think, plain and simple!  Or maybe it's just that I have absolutely no creativity?  Hmmmm...

Anyway, back to what I wish for...

Right now I am wishing for more time.  More time at home, more time with my husband, more time to do homework, more time to blog, oh and lets not forget more time to sleep.  Guess its not in the cards right now!  So I do the best I can.

Thank goodness I am finally feeling better. I wish that I had not been sick for the past 4 weeks.  I can't say I felt really sick except that I have been battling dizziness. Besides that, I had some headaches and extreme tiredness once in a while.  I tried going the natural way first and DH did some ear candling on me in hopes to remove any fluid that was in my ears. After all, it's worked before.  This is what was found.....

Ummm yeah thats Ear Wax!  Gross Huh?

I wasn't going to even post this picture but you know.... I just had too.  After all it does make a more interesting post right?  Besides, it's Halloween.  Ha!

Anyway... a week after the candling and I was still dizzy and it was getting worse so I went to the doctor.  I hate going to the doctor! However, as a driver for work it was really unsafe for me to continue driving like that.  Well I learned that I had a double ear infection AND a sinus infection!  The doctor prescribed a Z-pac, some nasal spray and some motion sickness medicine that I couldn't take anyway because it would knock me out.  The Z-pac is a 5 day antibiotic and I did feel slightly better after that except that I still had dizzy spells once in a while.  So another week passes by and one day I wake up and my head is spinning continually.  It's the worse dizziness that I have ever experienced.  So I called in sick for work and went back to the doctor.  Doctor prescribes another antibiotic, this time penicillin based Augmentin.  Why didn't they prescribe this the first time?  Also he told me to take Mucinex D.

So after new meds, a priesthood blessing, and 7 days later I am finally feeling like myself again.  The dizziness is gone thank goodness!

-----------------------------------------

Now on to better news....  I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!

Kyle and Domonique are expecting a baby in May.  We are so excited!  She is doing ok so far.  Luckily she hasn't had the whole morning sickness thing, but she is very tired and slightly moody once in a while.  All to be expected.  We are just really glad they are both here with us where we can take care of them and provide a safe and loving home for the baby.

------------------------------------------

How have you been enjoying your Fall weather?  We have been having such a really lovely Fall and I have been thoroughly enjoying all the pretty colors of the trees as they prepare for dormancy.  We have taken a few drives through the canyons recently and it has just been beautiful.  I took very few pictures unfortunately but here are a couple...

However, as of today, the weather seems to be changing into colder, wetter weather.  We even woke up to snow on the tops of the mountains. We could get a little dusting of snow in town by morning, but I am hoping not.  I am just not ready for the snow.  Let me rephrase that... I am not ready "mentally" for the snow.  I am ready for the snow as far as the warm boots, gloves, coats, hats and all that a person needs to stay dry and warm.  Thanks to my DH he took me shopping this weekend to get me set up for what I will need for working out in the elements.

I know it's inevitable, but can't I wish for a little more of the nice, warm Fall weather we have had so far?

Segment #2

New Stuff

We got a beautiful new car!

And I received my very own laptop for school!

It feels so nice to finally have a computer that can keep up with everything.  A big THANK YOU goes out to those that helped us obtain these much needed items.

School

As of the moment that I am writing this post I have completed this session of classes and now have a 2 week  break before my next session begins. It's a much needed break too! I took my final math exam on Thursday and missed only 2 questions for a 94.8% which is an A.  I also completed my touchstone project essay for English Comp I and received an A.  I am very happy with how it turned out.  I have had to work on one final assignment for each class due by tomorrow and that is all for this session.  I am very happy with my grades and believe I will continue to receive a 4.0 GPA once the final grades are posted next week.

Kyle & Domonique

We are very blessed to have Kyle and Domonique living with us and are so glad that we can help them get back on their feet.  We are so proud of them and all that they have accomplished.  Within two weeks of being here, they had both secured full-time jobs.  Kyle is working for Montana Maintenance Company and Domonique is working for Spring Creek Inn, an Alzheimer's care home.  They are also working towards continuing their education in the near future.

It is really nice to have family closeby.  They are really great kids and do so much to help around the house.  It's just been nice.  However, it is kind of strange to have every person in my house (except me) working night shifts.  I'm the only NORMAL one who works during daylight hours!  The rest are VAMPIRES!  Ha!

Work

My job at O'Reilly Auto Parts is going well.  I'm a driver specialist who delivers auto parts to all of our installer customers.  I didn't know if I would like it or not, but I really do.  It's a job that works perfectly while I am going to school.  When I go home for the day I can leave my work at work and not think about it again until I go back.  I get to drive all over the place which keeps me out and about and not under the nose of a supervisor all day long.  Plus I have met some really terrific people.  I also get a nice discount on auto parts which helped a great deal when we were fixing up the spare car for Kyle.  I'm very greatful for my job and what it provides.  It's a good feeling that I am finally able to pay my child support.

The only thing that I don't like about having to work is that it sure gets in the way of life!  I can think of so many other ways to spend my time if I didn't have to work.  I really need to win that lottery!

More Changes.....

I have had so much homework this week that this is the first I have even checked on my blog. However, I really do need to get to bed as it's midnight, but I wanted to get something posted on here so you didn't think I had completely disappeared.

So really quickly before I go to bed, I just want to update you on some new changes coming our way.

I mentioned previously that my in-laws were coming for a visit and they will be here on Friday.  I am so excited for all the fun times we are going to have.  Bill hasn't seen his parents in over 4 years, so this will really be a wonderful treat for us all.

Also on Friday my stepson, Kyle, and his wife, Domonique, will also arrive.  They are moving here from Arizona and will be living with us for a while until they can get back on their feet.  Kyle lost his job last week and since they had already planned to move up here next spring they just decided to make it happen now.  Which is fine by me! I am looking forward to having family nearby.

Kyle hasn't seen his grandparents (my in-laws) in over 12 years.  Having them all together under one roof is going to be so awesome!  I can't wait to take pictures!

Besides work and school, I have a really busy and fun filled two weeks ahead of me, visiting the in-laws and getting our kids settled.  I hope I will have some time to catch up with all of my dear bloggy friends soon, but it may be a few days before you hear from me.

I hope all is well in your lives.   TTFN

Trip to Utah, A Job, School and Other Good Stuff

Wow!  So it's been a while since I've actually posted anything noteworthy.   I have posted a couple things here and there, mostly pictures, but nothing that stands out as amazing. I'm sorry for being such a slacker!  It's just that I have had a crazy past few weeks and I don't see that ending any time soon.  In fact, my life just got even more crazy, but it's all good.  I will just have to include blogging time into my schedule and be better at sticking to it.

Here is what has been keeping me away....

School - You all know that I started school about 6 weeks ago at Colorado Technical University Online.  I am loving it!  But needless to say it's a full-time commitment in and of itself. Continuing my education is a HIGH priority for me right now and I am fully committed to achieving high grades and making the deans list in the near future.  So far I have an A in both classes.  Yeah!  This past week I have been working on my final papers for my classes, as we start a new session next week.  So I have been non-stop schooling lately.  Upcoming classes will be a little harder as I will be moving into Business Math and English Composition I.

Trip to Utah - Last week we made a trip to Utah for my family's camp out at Gooseberry Reservoir.  I'll get to that in just a minute.

First I want to mention that Bill and I got to meet his daughter that was given up for adoption 25 years ago for the first time.  She and her husband, David, live in Arizona and just so happened to be in Salt Lake on the same weekend as us to attend the funeral of David's sister who had passed away.  Natalie made contact with Bill about a year ago and they have kept in contact since then.  Meeting Natalie and David was the most amazing experience.  She is so beautiful, inside and out! She and David just got married in May and they are a perfect match for each other.  After we left from meeting with them, we realized we didn't even take one picture.  And I even took my camera with me for that very reason.  I was and still am so upset by this.  So I had to borrow this picture of them from her facebook profile (I hope you don't mind Natalie).  We look forward to spending more time with them in the near future.   We are very blessed!

Now back to the camping trip... All of my family; my parents, all my siblings, nieces and nephews, and my kids all went camping to Gooseberry Reservoir in Sanpete County. The only person that was missing was my BIL, my sister,Valerie's husband, Bob.  And he was very much missed! This trip had been planned for many months and it was just so nice to be together. We had not been back home since we moved a year ago.

We fished, camped, ate great food, had some fun nights around the camp fire telling silly progressive stories which was a hoot.   Did I mention that we fished?  We all caught 1 or 2 fish, but I think my 6 yr old niece caught a ton of fish all on her tiny Dora pole.  Every time she would throw her line in she would get a bite, it didn't matter that my line was right next to hers and it had the same bait.  For some reason the fish just loved her!

Here is a movie I made of our trip...

We returned back to Salt Lake from camping on Sunday afternoon which left Bill and I a little time to visit with some friends and past neighbors for a little while.  I was able to catch up with some friends of mine who I haven't seen in several years, and who just happened to be in Utah also on this same weekend.  I feel very blessed to have been able to have this opportunity for chance meetings. It was also really nice to spend some time with my kids, but now I am missing them like crazy!  The weekend was so AWESOME!

Job Status - My work with the Census ended a few days before our trip to Utah and so I had been really stepping up my time spent seeking a new job.  I met with a Career Assistance Advisor through my school who assisted me in revamping my resume and brushing up on my interview skills.  And I spent many hours apply for job after job during this past month.  On July 26th I received a phone call from O'Reilly Auto Parts, a place that I had applied to several months ago.  A job opening has come available and I interviewed that day, and found out the next that I got the job.  Yes, you read that right..... I finally got a job!  It's a full-time position driving auto parts around.  And it couldn't have come at a better time.  Yeehaw!

Now this is where my life gets even more crazier.  Full-time school + Full-time job = A very full life!  Now I just have to figure out how to keep it all in balance including my family and social commitments.  I haven't had a full-time job in a few years and I definitely have not had school on top of it.  But hey, people do it all the time, right?

Other stuff - I have hundreds of pictures I still need to edit and post of our hikes and Daisy's Adventures.  I haven't spent a lot of time on that because I still need to get a new computer and an external hard drive for this one before I start adding more files to it.  That will be a project I will have to work in my spare time. Ha!  And I would still like to be able to spend some time catching up on your blogs too.  Life is just getting in the way just a bit right now.  I hope you will forgive me.

Great News - I'm SO excited that my in-laws are coming for a visit later this month.  I am really looking forward to spending some good time with them.  MIL is an excellent photographer and am hoping she can teach me a thing or two. Here is a cute picture of the two them and their dog "Dinky".....

Can't wait to see you Mom & Dad!

Now to all my bloggy friends out there.... I promise to catch up with you over the next few days.  I can't wait to see whats been happening in your lives.

Still Around

This past week was a bit chaotic and I hate that I haven't had the time to update my blog much these days.  But I am still around.

This past week was just a bit crazy.  I go to school full time and that is my priority right now.  I am also working again for another couple weeks with the U.S. Census Bureau.  And then this past Sunday I was asked to speak in church on agency and so I spent all last week preparing for that when I wasn't doing the other.  Oh... and I also had a birthday last week too!  Yup!  I am another year older..... Eeek!  I don't feel older though and that is what counts, right?

I am still not completely operational with a computer yet as far as I have to wait until I get my new computer and an external hard drive before I can upload any of the recent photos from our camping trip and other adventures.  I just can't add any more programs to this computer that I am currently using.  I am just waiting on some funds to be released from financial aid through school so I can get that computer.  Hoping it will be soon.

I am still just sick over losing all those photographs over the past 8 years.  Everytime I think about it I realize what a stupid uncaring thing I did by not backing up my files onto an external source or printing them.  I remembered yesterday that I have lost all my wedding photos except for the few that are saved on FB and my blog, but that doesn't even come close to what I had.  It's just sickening!

As far as school goes, I am loving it!  I am learning so much already!  I am getting A's in each of my classes so far.  I may not be saying how much I love it in a few weeks when I begin math classes though.  I am so thankful for my DH who is so supportive of me.  I know without a doubt that this is the path I am supposed to be on at this time in my life.  Everything was leading towards it and everything is working out nicely.  I just have a really good feeling inside.  I hope that through my example, my kids will look up to me and be proud of their mommy!

Oh and before I forget.  DH and I finally upgraded our cell phones.  We each got a Blackberry.  Now we are somewhat up to speed in the technology world.  I am amazed at all the stuff I can do on this thing.  It's going to take me forever to figure it out.

I hope all of you, my dear blogging friends, are having a wonderful summer and all of your dreams and wishes are coming true.

Since I have absolutely NO pictures on this computer and I am tired of posting without some kind of picture, I went to the internet and pulled up this nice photo that makes me happy and feel at peace.  It just happens to be taken here in Montana.  We went on a hike yesterday and saw some really beautiful wildflowers just like these.  I hope you enjoy!

SCHOOL BOUND

Hi Folks!

I know its been a while.  This last week or so has been pretty crazy.  Since my computer crashed, I have spent the majority of my time trying to put together another computer for me to use until I can get one purchased.  It's been stressful, interesting, and taking up way too much time.

When I wasn't doing that I was getting myself registered for school.  Yes!  I  said that right.  I am school bound.  I have spent the last month or so trying to decide if going back to school was right for me, and realizing everything that has been going on in my life lately has been leading me right down that path.  So once I made the decision and decided on what I wanted to do, where to go and getting financing squared away, it all came together really fast. It all happened in about 10 days.  So now,  I am a student even as we speak I write this blog post.  I began classes on Friday.

I figured that since this year is my 25th year high school reunion and I haven't been back to school since, that I might as well become a student all over again.  Crazy?  Maybe! But why not?  I am excited! Actually I am more excited to getting all the schooling behind me so I can start my exciting career.

I am working towards my Associates in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Forensics.   I will be combining my two loves.  Most of my career has been in the field of doing bookkeeping and accounting and then after spending a couple years working as as Private Investigator, I found I enjoyed doing that as well.  So in about 3-1/2 years I will have a degree and will be able to investigate money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, etc., for places like the SEC, FBI, Financial Institutions, Banks, Law Enforcement offices etc.  I am very excited!

I decided I have to do something to be more competetive in this economy.  Being unemployed for a year now is not fun and competing with over 800+ applicants for almost every job I apply for is crazy.  So now I am a full time student with CTU- Colorado Technical University.

In other news, DH and I just got back from camping over the weekend.  It was so nice to get away from everything for a couple days.  I caught a fish!  It's been a few years since I have been fishing, so this is big for me.  We camped along a river and I caught my fish with a worm, before I even put the line in the water.  I was just dropping the line in and the worm barely touched the water before that fish grabbed it.  It's a 9" brook trout, kind of small but big enough to eat. Haven't eaten it yet, but soon!  I will post pictures of our trip later on.

Well I have to get going.  I have assignments for school due this week, a talk I have to prepare for church on Sunday, plus preparing my normal Sunday School lesson and practicing songs on the piano for Relief Society, on top of all my normal day to day stuff.  It looks like it will be another crazy week.

So TTFN.  Happy 4th of July!
