F-A-M-I-L-Y F-U-N - Part 2

Now on to Part 2 of our family fun times while my kids and parents were visiting. If you missed Part 1 you can go here to check it out.

The next adventure took us to Ghost Towns of Virginia City & Nevada City.  I have written about these places before when Bill and I went there a few weeks ago.  You can read that post here.  We enjoyed it so much I just had to take my family.  Plus when Bill and I went nothing was open yet as they don't really get things rolling until Memorial Day weekend.

We hopped on the train in Virginia City, which took us to Nevada City.  We enjoyed talking to the train crew and learning more about the history of the area.  The majority of our time was spent in Nevada City, Virginia City is more of a tourist trap with all the shops where you can buy souveniers and things.  Don't get me wrong. we enjoyed doing a little shopping and very much enjoyed the Ice Cream Parlor and the Candy Store.  Here are a few of our pictures as we strolled around.....

Just getting off the train in Nevada City

My cute kiddos.  I am still trying to get over how tall Jessie is getting.

The Family!  They obviously didn't get their height from me.

Bill was bad so we locked him up in the local jail. Ha!
He is such a goof!

Dad doing what he does best!
He said that if there was any reading material he would get down to business!

Daddy & Mommy!

My sweet, beautiful girl.  Comtemplating!  What?  I don't know!
I like this photo though.

Dad explaining to Bill how a Steam Engine works.
His dad (my grandfather) had one of the first Steam Engines in Utah
The engine my grandfather owned is currently located at the Museum in Delta, Utah.
I am sure this brought back some memories for my Dad.

My Dad with the Steam Engine just like his dad owned.

Heading to catch the train back to Virginia City

We had a wonderful day.  My dad in particular enjoys old mining & historical areas like this.  The weather was cool but very nice.  Our 68 degrees beat the 95 to 100 degree temperatures they were having in Salt Lake that day.

Look for Part 3 coming soon.

That was a fun day, especially Nevada City. It was neat to go through the old homes and shops and to look at the merchandise. Thanks again for the wonderful days activities.

two of my favorite places! we go there all the time, of course... i especially like to head up there when no one is around. it's so quiet and a little bit eerie.

and did you know that the madison county jail (madison county includes, ennis, norris, harrison, mccallister, sheridan, twin bridges, pony, etc.) is located in virginia city? it is an old fashion jail. it looks just as you would imagine!
